2024 NOTABLE EVENTS
The Interfaith Conference issued statements and/or its faith leaders participated in rallies and/or programs against hate and violence, including a 5-county wide program aimed at preventing targeted violence; presenting a panel discussion on the responsibilities of faith leaders at an Anti-Gun Violence Summit; presenting at a civic dialogues program at Marquette University; and presenting on Islamophobia and Antisemitism.
The Interfaith Conference’s educational programs included its 4 Tuesdays in March program, which carried the theme “Speaking Truth to the Myths We Live By”; arranging presentations on different faith practices at Rockwell Automation, the Brookfield Sikh Gurdwara, Ovation Jewish Home, Carroll University, and the West Allis First Baptist; holding educational programs on environmental issues with partners and arranging for the showing of the documentary “Cooked: Survival by Zip Code.”
The Interfaith Conference concluded its two and a half-year partnership with the Wisconsin Council of Churches in arranging to conduct Covid-19 vaccination clinics and educational events. The Conference also collaborated with other partners on issues of health inequity.
The Interfaith Conference continued its dinner dialogues, including with dinners at the Urban Ecology Center, Marquette University, Milwaukee Repertory Theater, Tricklebee Café, and St. Rita Square, as well as area places of worship.
On December 5, 2024, it held its 54th Annual Luncheon at Marquette University’s Alumni Memorial Union Ballroom, with the theme “Lessons on the Road to Peace” which more than 210 persons attended. Capuchin Community Services received the Rev. Herbert Huebschmann Urban Ministry Award; Pardeep Singh Kaleka received the Frank Zeidler Award; Robert Heffernan received the Mark Rohlfing Memorial Award; and Iuscely Flores received the Emerging Leader Award. The keynote speaker was award-winning photographer and author John Noltner, who prepared a special video presentation on How Our Faiths Strengthen Us, which is available on the Interfaith Conference’s website.
